Quantitative Research

Face-to-face research remains the most commonly used survey method and PCP has a national field-force of experienced supervisors and interviewers coordinated by our project manager. At the beginning of every project all interviewers are provided with rigorous briefing to ensure consistent procedure. We have considerable experience carrying out face-to-face surveys to meet tight schedules and can respond rapidly to requests of all types and sizes.

We regularly conduct telephone research with members of both the public and the business community. Our portfolio of work includes successful projects with "hard-to-reach" groups such as Finance Directors and Company Secretaries of large companies with interview lengths of up to 45 minutes. We offer both CATI and non-CATI facilities for telephone surveys.

In our experience, postal surveys are a vastly under-rated survey method. In the right circumstances, and with careful use of incentives and reminders, we have achieved response rates which compare favourably with face-to-face and telephone surveys, but at a fraction of the overall cost. Postal surveys also offer respondents more time to consider questions, the opportunity to refer to other material and consult with other household members if required.

Similarly, as more of the general public connect to the Internet, email and web surveys become increasingly viable. Internet surveys already offer an effective method of conducting much business to business research, particularly employee opinion surveys.

With all these services, we are happy to provide "field and tab" only, or to be involved fully in the identification of objectives, design of questionnaire, interpretation, reporting and presentation of findings. PCP also offers consultancy on questionnaire design and report writing.
