Background
This client is a global manufacturer of a vast range of food and beverage brands most of which are familiar household names. Of great importance to our client is the successful recruitment and retention of employees. Key to retaining employees is the achievement of high levels of employee satisfaction and so a comprehensive understanding of their employee opinions and attitudes to the organisation is vital information which can be used to pinpoint areas where improvements can be made. This employee satisfaction survey was commissioned initially to measure levels of satisfaction within one major division and on successful completion was extended across the rest of the group within the UK. Levels of satisfaction were compared with previous levels over an extended time-period.
Objectives
-
To understand overall levels of satisfaction and how current levels compared with previous levels.
-
To understand overall levels of satisfaction by division, function and type of employee.
-
To understand levels of agreement with a series of 42 prompted statements across 11 key 'value' dimensions e.g. teamwork, performance management, creativity and leadership.
-
To understand what employees really enjoyed and what really annoyed them about working in their function and in their division.
-
To identify areas where there are the highest and where there are the lowest levels of satisfaction and compare with previous benchmarks.
Methodology
A survey was completed among the employees across the three divisions. Employees were first informed of the objectives of the survey by e-mail from the Chief Executive to encourage high levels of participation. This was followed by an e-mail containing a self completion questionnaire which could be completed either via the internet or using a version in Microsoft Word format. One reminder was issued.
Outcome
A detailed analysis of levels of employee satisfaction was presented to our client with supporting tables. Differences by division, function and type of employee were highlighted. Overall levels of satisfaction were measured and key areas were identified where changes could be made to improve morale and job satisfaction.
